Nursery

Chloe moved into her new room the middle of January so I've been taking the last few weeks to get her old room back into shape as a nursery. I cleaned the furniture (amazing the places where milk can land), carpets, and closet. Raised the crib back to newborn height, and got all the 0-6 month clothes put away in the crib and closet. Now all we need is a little baby to live there :-)  I'm glad I have this done because bending is definitely starting to be a problem!

Chloe's New Room

Chloe will only be 18 months old when this new baby arrives so we decided to go ahead and get her a new bedroom set and crib. We've had it since November and got all the furniture set up over the holidays. Since the nursery is pretty neutral I decided to go totally girly for the new room. I got a purple bedding set from Pottery Barn Kids along with some pink and purple wall decorations. I wanted to do something with her name in the room but thought plain white might not stand out much, so feeling crafty, I decided to glue flowers to her letters. It turned out pretty well! I did dark purple and dark pink (with some green) for the flower colors and it looks nice in her room with the other accessories. Nathan and I are going to make her a magnetic chalkboard with her name on it too, but that may not be done until this summer. Her toy box is probably going upstairs next to her dresser which is why there is a big space there.

Now here's the mostly finished product (and yes, that's Chloe taking a nap in the crib!) The letter flowers almost look red in the photo, but in person they're definitely pink.

Chloe Loves the Snow

It seems in January we've had snow every weekend which means on Sabbath when we're out Chloe's had a chance to run around in the snow. On January 14th she was so excited we let her trample in it a few minutes when we got home from church (hence the Sabbath shoes and coat). January 21 we actually got her in some snowpants and a hat so she could spend a little more time. So far she just loves the snow. I have to watch her because she will stay out as long as you let her no matter how cold it gets.

Deep Frying

This month Nathan and I ventured into the world of deep frying sweets. We started with old fashioned sour cream donuts one weekend and then tried apple fritters the next. The donuts need to be tweeked a bit but the fritters -- I could have eaten  A LOT of those! They were spot on just as good as any bakery. Here are some photos of our adventure with fat:

Chloe's Toy Box

Nathan's dad makes a toy box for each of the grandkids and Chloe's was ready on New Years. It's really beautiful -- plus it's nice and big so we can fit a lot of toys in it! Good thing because after Christmas the toys just exploded around here and we need a container for them. I think this will end up in her bedroom but for now we have it downstairs in our family room aka toy central.
