The Breakfast of Vikings

Nathan, his mom, and I all took a danish baking class at Bake! in Ann Arbor. As always, we enjoyed ourselves and came home with a billion calories of baked goods. For this class we first learned to make bear claws with almond filling (you'll see these little almond logs in the photos). The last two items were cheese and berry danishes. The dough does take some work. It actually feels more like making bread because you do a lot of rolling and then proofing, but you need to do that to be sure you get the layers of buttery flakiness.  Yes, butter. There is almost two pounds of it in our dough so I'm not exaggerating when I mention they are buttery. I was so tired at the end of the night since I had already worked all day beforehand, but it was nice to do an activity we used to do all the time before Chloe was born.  We hope to take another class around Christmas.

More Parties

We have a lot of fall birthdays in the family! Our niece, Kaitlyn, turned two and we all celebrated at my dad's house.  We had a super yummy Sabbath dinner of mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, meatballs, corn on the cob, and parker house rolls. It was nice to eat so much comfort food and we only had to make the rolls :-)  Of course later she got to open up all her presents and we dined on cake and ice cream.

Chloe's New Dress

I found the cutest new Sabbath dress for Chloe this week at JC Penny's. It was also on sale which is good because I'm not sure I would have splurged otherwise. But, it's fall now and all of her other dresses were summery so she really did need a new dress.  She wouldn't sit still for me to get her picture but here are a few action shots of her in it.

Smash Cake

We had an extra little cake left over from Chloe's birthday party so I decided to do a little smash cake session with her. These are pretty much straight out of the camera. If I waited to post them until I had time to edit you would never see them :-)  In case you can't tell from the photos, she thought daddy's buttercream frosting was de-lish!

And one last photo of her in the tub afterward getting all that frosting off her!
