S'mores

In preparation for Chloe's birthday party, I made s'mores bars on a stick. It was the first time I've tried tempering chocolate so I was feeling pretty proud of myself that they turned out so well.

Painting

My dad and step-mom Chris very, very graciously offered to help us paint a few rooms in our house this summer. (When I say "help" I mean they did everything -- we just picked out the colors, picked up the paint, and left the house so they could work without two babies running around.)

Downstairs we painted the kitchen (light green) and hall bathroom (yellow with stars). Upstairs we painted the master bedroom (sage green) and bathroom (tan) and hall bathroom (yellow with fish).

The kitchen was supposed to be a darker green like the bedroom but Home Depot admitted that the computer messed up and gave us the wrong shade of green. We discovered this after Dad and Chris had already spent two hours trimming the kitchen and were about to roll it, so we went ahead and had them finish. Oh well, it's 100% better than plain dirty white so for now it's staying up.

Unfortunately, the only room I have "before" shots of is the kitchen but just imagine the walls all white with scuff marks and that's your "before" photo.

Chloe was a BIG help as you can see :-)

August

Seems there are always some photos I take that don't fit nicely into a category or event so here are some random photos from the month.

(Megan has a little teeny tiny spitting up problem...)

And finally (ta-da!) the most random photo of all...my green pepper! We didn't do much with our square foot garden (aka the "square root garden") this year, but our sister-in-law gave us a pepper plant and we've enjoyed watching it grow this summer.

Celebrations

My friend, Christy, hosted a bachelorette party for our friend, Rachel, on August 18th, and I was able to help with some of the food. We had haystacks (aka nachos) and did a spa party. It was a lot of fun talking while we did hand scrubs and foot soaks. There were five of us so it was a nice small group. Christy made up bags for us to take home with candles, loompah sponges, a manicure set, and hand and foot scrub.

So the party was Saturday night and bright and early on Sunday Christy was orchestrating the bridal shower for Rachel (busy weekend!). Everything went really well and it was great seeing so many people who I grew up knowing.

Since there were events all weekend, I brought Chloe and Megan up to Lansing with me for the weekend. While I was away partying, they watched the girls for me. Cousin Ella was also spending the weekend so the three girls got to spend a lot of time together.
