Up North: Friday afternoon

We went straight to Harbor Springs and grabbed lunch at the Cornichons Two. It's a deli right near the water.  Took our food to a little picnic table in a park and hung out for a bit. Looked through some stores and then stopped to get cookies at Tom's Mom's. They have about a dozen flavors but my favorite is the chocolate pecan. Yum. Other favorites are the original, chocolate cherry, white chocolate macadamia nut, black and white, cinnamon sugar...well, really, we like a lot of them as you can see. We ended up getting Chloe a souvenir t-shirt from here, too.  Now that she's getting older and can try more foods, we're giving her tastes of things. We broke off a big crumb off our cinnamon sugar cookie and let her taste it. She loved it (below you can see her before, during, and after).

We called and our hotel room was ready early so we headed over to Petoskey to get settled in. We stayed at The Inn at Bay Harbor. We love it. We try to get the same room that has a little deck with chairs, a fireplace (although this year it was warmer so we didn't need it) and a tub with a whirlpool. It's also big enough that we'd have room to set up the pack-n-play for Chloe.

After Chloe had a short power nap, we drove into downtown Petoskey to look at the shops. They were having an open house so some of the streets were blocked off so the businesses could go out on the sidewalks and people could walk in the street. There was a little parade of dogs in costumes and a big dog character. I thought we should try to get our photo with it but Nathan vetoed the idea. We stopped to pick up some pizza at the Galley Gourmet next to the hotel and settled in for the night.
