July Adventures!

Summer is such a busy time! Now that Chloe is in school five days a week (and Megan will be joining her this Fall), we are trying to do as much visiting as possible over the summer break.  After we returned from DeTour, we had a chance to meet up with our friends out at Domino Farms. We had to dodge some rain showers, but we managed to spend a few hours outside looking at all the animals.

The next day we went bowling and had lunch with Ann. For lunch we tried two new spots - Tom+Chee (for grilled cheese and tomato soup) and BurgerFi for dessert. Oh, and we sat next to our local news anchor and his family so we had to get a photo. Ya, we're nerds.

The next day (man, I'm tired just writing all this) we visited my office to attend a farewell party for a co-worker. The girls got to visit with my friends and see my office. They didn't want to leave! (There's a joke here just waiting to be told but I'll leave that alone.)

For one of our summer art projects we decided to paint and assemble bird houses. We needed to paint a few layers so it took us a few days, but they turned out pretty well.

Another project for the summer is starting a fairy garden. We found a super cute bench at the art festival and picked up a few small items. We still need to add more dirt, find a house, get more plants and some moss, and get a few more pieces, but it's a start.

Believe it or not, that was not all! We got to visit with my friend, Michelle, up at Great Lakes Crossing, went to the botanical gardens, visited with cousins, had karate in the park, and played played played. Not to mention we tried out some new recipes!

New recipes! Scalloped potatoes, a new homemade ice cream and homemade waffles cones, strawberry rhubard cobbler, special k loaf, and lemon blueberry bread with lemon glaze.

Good-bye, July! Hello August!
