Chloe Turns Five

Five years ago we were anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first little girl, Chloe! She was due on August 30...a day which came and went without any sign of her arrival. A week later I was induced and another two days later she finally arrived after being officially evicted via a C-section. (If you're counting, that's 11 days overdue!)

We can't imagine life without her!

The "I'm turning five festivities" started on Wednesday, September 9th when she got to take cookies to school for a treat. (She was going to take them on her actual birthday, the 10th, but another student also had a birthday that day so we agreed to do hers early.)  Chloe helped me make the cookies and she went a little crazy with add-ins: mini chocolate chips, M&M's, and mini marshmallows. They were sweet but wow, what a yummy combo!

The next day on the 10th we celebrated with a family supper at Red Robin where she also got to open a few presents. Our server was very nice and brought Megan out a little cup of ice cream (because, of course, Megan thinks it's also her birthday).

A few days later that weekend we had a family party for her at the house. She wanted yellow daisies for her theme (a flower that was her favorite this summer) so we decorated with white and yellow. I found a 5 balloon, too, which I thought was pretty cool!

I made an ice cream cake for her party (like an oreo - chocolate cake on the top and bottom with vanilla ice cream in the middle). She decorated it with flowers and Daddy wrote her name on the chalkboard flag banner. (The cookie cutter was left on because it had to go back into the freezer until after lunch.)

Our lunch was pizza, breadsticks, salad, and ranch pasta salad with fruit kabobs, cookies, and ice cream for dessert. Afterward, Chloe got busy opening her presents!

Finally, cake time!

It was a fun party and a great start to her 6th year!
