Down On The Farm

Sorry about the title of this blog post, you probably have the Bob Evans theme running through your head now :)

My friend Tracy grew up a few miles from where my family lived in the early 1970's and for years we'd talked about a visit to see the area and visit her family farm. August had been crazy (see my previous blog post) and the new school year was around the corner, so we planned a visit for September 1st. We met up at Tracy's apartment and then drove out to the farm. We had pizza, saw the big trucks, and took a ride out to the fields in the golf cart. We also had a chance to drive down the road to see the road we used to live on. The house itself is not on that road anymore because the Midland Bay City Saginaw (MBS) airport bought the land, but it was neat to see the old road.

(Nothing like a 90 degree, high humidity day and riding on a golf cart to give you awesome hair!)

Ok, so a few shots of the road we used to live on - Sarle Road in Freeland. The cross-street was Hospital and it was far enough down the street that the airport has a barbed-wire fence up. There's also a shot of a field that is near where our house would have been. We had neighbors that were good friends who also lived on that road and I saw their old garage. It would be nice to find the actual house someday (it was moved nearby) since that's the home my parents brought me home to when I was born.
